Liderlighting has provided the LED lighting for a cold storage warehouse (-25ºC) in the province of Madrid, Spain. The warehouse has an area of 4.000 m2, with an interior clearance of 9 metres. The warehouse is divided in 2 zones. The first zone is intended for racking distributed in 6 aisles. The second zone is an open space for picking and dispatch of goods.

The lighting requirements were high, being 200 lux the requirement for the racking area, and 250 lux for the picking area. The solution provided by Liderlighting for the racking area was the linear high bay LiderLED® RACK L2-RK Series, designed specifically to illuminate racking areas. The average illuminance obtained in the aisles after installation was 230 lux. For the picking area, the proposed solution was the high bay LiderLED® HELA L2-HL Series, obtaining an average illuminance of 270 lux in that area.

With the implementation of the light fixtures from LiderLED®, in addition to fulfil the lighting requirements, it is obtained the following advantages over any other conventional lighting system:

• The HELA Series and RACK Series work perfectly at low temperatures up to -40°C without being affected the performance. The initial projected illumination was fluorescence, which required an specific type of light fitting for below zero temperatures, equipped with special ballasts and fluorescent tubes that increase significantly the unit price of the light fitting.

• The HELA Series and RACK Series have a working temperature lower than other conventional lighting technologies, which results in lower emissions of calories to the ambient, and therefore, it is reduced the influence of the heat from the lights to the inside temperature of the warehouse.

• With the installation of the HELA and RACK Series it was achieved a reduction over a 35% of the light points to install comparing to the initially projected fluorescent luminaries, resulting in a significant reduction in the cost of installing.

Both HELA and RACK Series from LiderLED® have a protection degree of IP65. The luminous efficacy is higher than 115 lm/W in both Series. The energy saving achieved has been around 65% regarding to the initially projected fluorescent lighting.
